I am excited to take over at the helm of the Journal of Management Accounting Research (JMAR) in the year of its 30th anniversary. JMAR's first issue was published in 1989 under the general editorship of Dr. William L. Ferrara, who had previously also been the first Management Accounting Section president. Under the visionary leadership of the Management Accounting Section executives, Bill Ferrara, his two editors (Chee W. Chow and Kenneth A. Merchant), and an editorial board consisting of 30 reputable academics and practitioners, the first journal dedicated to management accounting research was born. The U.K.-based Management Accounting Research followed suit with its first issue published in 1990.

In its 30-year history, JMAR has contributed substantially to the development and growth of management accounting research. JMAR has grown from publishing one issue per year, to consistently filling three issues per year. In 2019, JMAR's editorial team...
