We are experiencing a unique and challenging time in our history. Over the past four months, I witnessed how fast my colleagues could switch from the traditional in-person to online instruction while juggling childcare and the distractions of home. We have all learned to teach our courses by the seat of our pants and embrace radical change in ways that we never thought possible. As a result, we have individually and collectively accomplished things beyond our imagination.
The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed our lives and limited the in-person exchange of research ideas and findings. This year, research workshops and conferences scheduled after March were either canceled or changed to a virtual format. The 2020 AAA Annual Meeting, in August, had to be held virtually.
