Using flashcards enables better memory and fluency with basic spreadsheet features including keystroke shortcuts by means of spaced repetition. Spaced repetition is an approach to spacing practice for learning new things and making them stick, short term and long term. “Spaced” means distributing the recall (and relearning if needed) over days, weeks, and months. This contrasts with “massed” practice occurring in the hours before an exam (cramming). While cramming may feel productive, learning research is conclusive in showing that spaced practice outperforms cramming.
