Three key elements are essential to successful implementation of the case, namely, prior case instruction experience, introduction, guidance, and debriefing. First, and with respect to introducing the case, it is essential that students gain an appreciation for OLPC as an organization, its principles, and its product. Because some students may be unfamiliar with OLPC, we strongly recommend either showing or assigning the YouTube video, “OLPC Mission, Part 1: Principles and Child Empowerment” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-M77C2ejTw), to provide a brief overview of OLPC and its original mission. The video is 1.39 minutes long. This introduces OLPC as a social enterprise, which is defined as an organization selling goods (or services) in support of a social mission. The instructor may also choose to start by discussing OLPC's value proposition.
