This commentary is based on my Plenary presentation as incoming President of the American Accounting Association (AAA) at the 2022 AAA Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, entitled “Declining Enrollments—A Call to Action!” After serving on the accounting faculty at the University of Georgia for 21 years, I returned to my hometown of Jacksonville, FL, in June 2015 and served a 5-year term as dean of the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida (UNF). After my term as dean ended in June 2020, I returned to UNF’s Accounting and Finance Department as a Professor of Accounting, and over the past 2 years, I have given much thought to the enrollment challenges facing accounting programs, their causes, and possible solutions to the challenges.
