A means in which to facilitate a broader, integrated, and student-centered education is to work across disciplines and embrace new forms of pedagogical design. “Design futuring,” a creative design methodology, stimulates thought, negotiates futures, and develops critical thinking and collaborative communication. This learning strategy paper discusses the innovative process of design futuring, using the double-variable method, in accounting education to help students examine and think about the future of the accounting profession. Illustrative examples and feedback are provided on how design futuring has been used effectively with accounting students to explore ambiguity and critical thought on the future of accounting and illicit new creative ways forward in accounting education.
