In April 2017, Dana R. Hermanson, the Dinos Eminent Scholar Chair of Private Enterprise at Kennesaw State University, submitted a manuscript to Issues in Accounting Education (Issues) titled, “25 Reflections on Accounting Research” (Hermanson 2018). I found the paper very interesting and realized that many other senior colleagues in our profession likely have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with Ph.D. students and faculty who are at earlier stages in their careers. I shared this idea with Dana, who provided me with several suggestions for colleagues who might contribute similar reflective pieces about their own experiences publishing academic research. In addition to reflections about research, I also wanted to invite retrospectives related to teaching, service to the profession, and possibly changes in academia. Of critical importance to me was soliciting manuscripts from a diverse set of senior faculty members in accounting.
